Wife (time, midnight): “ Hark ! Husband, wake up ! I hear the rustling of silk and the clang of chains.” Husbaud : “You do ? Horrors! Then the reports are true. I was told this house was haunted.” Wife (much relieved): “ Oh, is that all ? I was afraid that Fido had broken loose and was tearing up my new ball-dress.”
