Bobtxnmtnt Notices* EDUCATION RATE. Provincial Secretary's Office, Nelson, 6th November, 1859. PURSUANT to the provisions of the " Education Amendment Act, 1858," his Honour ! the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that the ANNUAL RATE imposed by the said Act upon all Householders residing within Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on MONDAY, the sth day of December next ; and that the same will be received at the folio wing places, between the hours of Ten, a.m., and Four, p.m., viz. : — Court House, Nelson, by Mr. Thomas Fagan ; School-house, Clifton-terrace, Suburban North, by Mr. Alexander Wragg ; School-house, Stoke, by Mr. E. Austin ; School-bouse, Waimea East, by Mr. W. Stanton j School-house, Waimea West, by Mr. Geo. Walker ; School-house, Spring Grove, by Mr. Thomas Andrews ; School-house, Wakefield, by Mr. R. Buvbush ; School-house, Upper Moutere, by Mr. J. Dawes ; School-house, Lower Moutere, by Mr. W. Guy ; School-house, Motueka, by Mr. W. Andrews ; School-house, Riwaka, by Mr. C. The aforesaid Act requires that " every householder in each Educational District shall pay, annually, twenty shillings, and a further sum of five shillings for every child of such householder between the ages of five and fourteen years : Provided always, that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing move than three miles from any school established under this Act ; nor for any child attending any school not established under this Act, in respect of whom bucli person shall produce to the Collector a certificate, signed by the Teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended during the tliree months previous to the levying of the rate. IN pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled " The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," I, John Shabp, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Waimea West, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of a writ, bearing date the fourth day of November, 1859, issued under the hand of his Honour John Pebey Robinson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, an ELECTION will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as MEMBER of the PROVINCIAL COUNCIL for the said Electoral District, and that the NOMINATION of Candidates will take place at the School House, Waimea West, on MONDAY, the fifth day of December next, at twelve o'clock, noon, and that the POLL, if necessary, will take place, at the said School House, on TUESDAY, the sixth December next, and the result declared at the close of the said Poll. ***' John Shabp, Returning Officer. IN pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled " The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," I, Geobge Leslie Lee, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the County of Cheviot, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a writ, bearing date the 6th day of October, 1859, issued under the hand of his Excellency the Govebnob of New Zealand, an ELECTION will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a MEMBER of the HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES for the said Electoral District, and that the NOMINATION of Candidates will take place at Mr. Thomas Wilson's Woolshed, Mount Grey Run, on MONDAY, the 12th day of December, 1859, at noon, and that the POLL, if necessary, will be taken on THURSDAY the Fifteenth day of December, 1859.
