MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of St. Mary’s League presided over by the president, Mrs Du Flou. was well attended, and opened with the singing of the NZ. National Song, “God Defend New Zea land.” The main feature of the afternoon was a very graphic description of his overseas experiences given by Flying Officer O’Connor. D.F.C.. who took part in the Eatlle of Britain and later was in Germany during the crossing of the Rhine and was back in London for VE-Day. His references to conditions in Holland and other occupied territories were particularly enlightening. A competition for the best article made from a flour bag. judged by Mrs Amodeo, was won by Mrs Douglas and Mrs Johnsen gained the’ second award. An enjoyable afternoon concluded with afternoon tea.
