ELECTRICITY SUPPLY AND RAILWAY COMPLETION

DEPUTATION FROM LEAGUE OF 'LOCAL BODIES A deputation from the Nelson-Marl-borough-West Coast League of Local Bodies will make representations to the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) and the Minister of Works (Mr Semple) in Wellington to-morrow morning on the subjects of electricity supply and the completion of the Nelson railway. The deputation will request the linking up of-the league’s territory with the South Island electricity network and will stress the urgency for the erection of a dam at the Cobb in view of the threatened shortage of power within the next few years, and will again present the case for the completion of the Glenhope-Inangahua railway link. The arrangements for the deputation tJ meet both the Prime Minister and Mr Semple have been made by Mr H. Atmore, M.P. The members of the deputation will be Messrs H. E. Stephens (Nelson), J. Ward (Buffer), H. G. B. Hurst (Nelson) and L. R. Palmer (Nelson), the secretary of the league. The Hon. C. F. Skinner, M.P. for Motueka, Mr H. Atmore, M.P. for Nelson, Mr E. P. Meachen, M.P. for Marlborough, the Hon. W. Black, M.L.C., and the Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, M.L.C., have been invited to join the deputation .
