NAVY LEAGUE
NELSON BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Nelson branch of the Navy League was held recently, the president Mr H. C. K. Harley was in the chair. Two hundred and sixteen lb. tins of honey have been shipped to England for distribution to Nelson boys in the Royal Navy, this being the second shipment of honey sent to England. The Ladies’ Auxiliary reported that the making of pullovers etc., was progressing very favourably and that more knitters for the making of these garments were offering. It was stated that suitable pictures had been obtained for showing to the school children. These pictures would deal with the work of the Royal Navy. The men on the tanker Stanvac Wellington recently in port were entertained and taken for a motor drive into the country. Books and magazines were placed on board for the men, also a gramaphone and records. These were appreciated very much by the men.
