SERIOUS FLOODS IN MEXICO
AT LEAST 500 KILLED OR DROWNED New York, Oct. 1. At least 500 people were killed or drowned in the worst floods in Vera Cruz for 22 years. Reports from Mexico City state that at least 200,000 people are homeless. Vera Cruz is isolated, a nearby town has been inundated and villages have been wash?d away. Crops have suffered heavily. Fifty thousand tons of grain and 200,000 tons of sugar have been lost. Tjbacco, bar.ana and pineapple plantation! have been ruined.
