RESIGNATION OF CHAIRMAN

U.S. WAR PRODUCTION BOARD Rugby, Sept. 30. Mr Donald Nelson, chairman of the United States War Production Board, has resigned. The announcement says ►resident Roosevelt in accepting the resignation stated he was counting on Mr Nelson to remain in the Government in a high post of major importance. In his letter of resignation, Mr Nelson stated his work in China with General Hurley was now completed. He had contemplated his resignation ever since war production had successfully met its crucial test in the invasion of Europe, and he had delayed his resignation only till he could set a course for s the War Production Board in a reconversion policy. Mr Julius Krug has l *?n appointed chairman of the War Production Board in succession to Mr Nelson. President Roosevelt said Mr Nelson’s new post is connected with the “laying of the groundwork for post-war economic co-operation with other nations. ’ The “New York Times” Washington correspondent reports that Mr Nelson has become a kind of roving commercial ambassador travelling as President Roosevelt’s personal represenjtative, as he did on his missions to I Russia and China.
