SERVICES TEAM BEATS N.Z
END OF SEASON RUGBY GREAT CROWD AT ATHLETIC PARK Wellington, Sept. 30. New Zealand and Services’ sides, representing the finest Rugby talent in the country, gave a notable season a fine finishing touch at Athletic Park this afternoon. With play that had any amount of sparkle about it there was also spectacle, and in this respect the great crowd, which ringed the playing area, contributed no mean part. It was like the good days of peacetime. The play itself was influenced greatly by the wind, and all but three of the 41 points registered in the match were scored at the southern end. Services won by 22 points to 19. Net proceeds of the match go to patriotic funds. The teams were:— New Zealand XV. —Sewell; Dunn, Roberts, Fox: Rae, Murdoch; Tetzlaff (captain): Birchfield, McKenzie. McHugh, Gunning, Mclntosh, Christian, Catley, Connolly. New Zealand Services.—-Morrison; McLean. Wiles. McHugh; O'Callaghan, Delamore; Barchard; Beadle, Green (captain), Frazer, Elliott, Herman. Waldegrave, Johnson, Smith. Referee: Mr D. S. B. Heather.
