What is believed to have been a deliberate attempt to mischievously interfere with Kindergarten and his half-brother, Golden Souvenir, resulted in both horses suffering injuries for which they are now being treated. The extent of the damage will not be known for a 9ew days. During their stay in Hawkes Bay they are quartered at Greenmeadows. I tis believed that at about 2.30 a.m. to-day some person unknown opened the doors of their boxes and let them run together in a yard which adjoins the main road. There are signs that the two horses fought in this yard and that they continued the melee in an adjoining paddock. Evidently Kindergarten was the victor and his younger relative apparently struggled his way .throdgh a wire fence to seek the refuge of the main road where he was found at daybreak. Both horses suffered extensive abrasions, specially Golden Souvenir. The police are investigating.
