MAITAI BOWLING CLUB
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Maitai Bowling Club committee was held at the green. Bridge /street. The president, Mr W. A. Robinson, was in the chair and there were also present Messrs G. E. Piper, J. McLean, A. B. Nicholas. W. A. Kenning. W. R. Martyn, B. E. Leggatt and M. R. Eden. (hon. secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs H. Smith, A. White, and R. A. Scott. General routine business and arrangements for the approaching season were considered. The green promises to be in excellent order and the young grass appears to be well forward. The The green supervisor recommended that as much time as possible be allowed for the grass to become firmly established. tl was decided to open the season on Saturday the 21st October and to extend a cordial invitation to all bowlers and friends to be present. Week-day afternoon play was a feature of last season’s activities and Messrs T. Johnson, H. Gay, and G. E. Chisnall were appointed a sub-com-mittee to control these games in the coming season. It was resolved that for club games names must be in by 1.45 p.m. and players to be on the green and ready to play by 2 o’clock. Eight nominations for new members have been received and if all are accepted at the ballot to be held on the first Saturday following opening day the limit restriction on membership w’ll have been reached. However, such limitation does not apply to returned servicemen, ex-members rejoining, or transfers from other clubs.
