SUNDAY STROLLERS
MANY POPULAR WALKS Nelson put on its most coaxing airs yesterday and Nelsonians were not slow to respond to the call to enjoy its sunshine and outdoor beauties. The fresh sunny day persuaded many people that the weather was far too good to be wasted indoors, even in front of a sparkling fire. The sparkling sunshine exerted a stronger charm and wise people went out of doors. All day long a stream of strollers wandered up the zig-zag path in the Botanical Reserve to see, from the top of the hill, Nelson basking contentedly in its sunny corner. The Port road, always popular for a walk, had more than its usual share of Sunday afternoon wanderers, and they, with other people who had sufficient petrol to take the family for a jaunt in the car, paused along the waterfront to gaze over the glistening harbour and bay to where the mountains looked blue and majestic, crowned with a thick cap of snow. The path up the Grampians, the Queen’s Gardens, Victoria Heights the Maitai and other popular walks all received their share of visitors. Everywhere passers-by greeted one another with but one salutation “Hullo. Isn’t it a lovely day!”
