BLOCKS OF STAMPS

I collect stamps and have about 600. Some time ago, just when kiwi stamps were going out of use, I heard that it was a good idea to get a block of four. I want to know if this is the same with other stamps. Would you ask the Stampman if he could put a piece in the paper saying if two stamps together or a block of four are more valuable than a single one? Helen Whelan, Ngatimoti. Mr Stampman says a block of four or two stamps has little, perhaps no, more value than separate stamps. They are easier to handle though, and if you have blocks of stamps he says it is just as easy to put the whole block in your album as to tear them apart and put them in separately. Some people, he says, make a collection of blocks of stamps only. Then again, if you have a block, with one stamp which has a defect, a letter upside down or anything like that, the.i it is best to keep the block, so the distinguishing mark can be noticed.
