HORSES IN FORM NEW ZEALAND CIIP MEETING To-morrow is the opening day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's two-day Cup meeting. Although the fixture is three weeks later than usual the interest throughout New Zealand is just as keen as ever. Wellington’s boot king thinks Atreus is a “sitter,” while the milkman says that Piastre has it “in the bag,” and so on. One of them may be right, but with the defection of Kindergarten the race is as open as any Cup race has been. Proved stayers like Gladynev, Battledress, Yogi. Piastre and Royal Lancer will be up against stoutly bred horses like Southern Sail, The Raker, Night Pal, Kinsman and Don Quex. and given a good track a great race should result, with horsemanship playing a big part in the result. All other events, especially the classics. have filled well and the C.J.C. should have a bumper meeting.
