NEW GOVERNOR FOR FIJI

SIR HARRY LUKE RESIGNS

(Rec. 2.30 p.m.) Rugby, June 12. The Colonial Office announces that Lord Cranbourne, Secretary of State for the Colonies, has Been in consultation with the Governor of Fiji and High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Sir Harry Luke, regarding a new situation that has arisen in that area. With great public spirit, says the Office, Sir Harry Luke has consented to place his resignation in His Majesty’s hands in order to facilitate the appointment of a younger man to his post. The name of his successor will be announced shortly.—B.O.W.
