ASPECTS OF THE WAR
I To the Editor! Sir. 1 heard a speaker talking on the war lately, and he said, “We nevei make the same mistake twice.” Often this is ‘through lack of opportunity. We have only to make a mistake that : counts, and enough of other mistakes .to go with it. and we are soon in a position that the mistakes we make do not count, or at least this should be so. I listened to a speaker on Sunday night, i and he praised all our fighting forces jand others that go with them, and went ! on to say that we must have the spirit jof the people too. Does this speaker not know that the spirit of all worthy people i- with all our light i t : forces, without which they would be lost? What seems to have been sadly lacking is brain-power at the head of affairs, through which we i have had mistake after mistake ; throughout the war. but the fighting valour of our lighting forces, with the i spirit ol the people behind them, pulls jus through. What is lucky for us is i that the powers we are at war with j make mistakes, too. —I am. etc.. CHAS. E. WILSON. Stoke. 11th June.
