CURTAILED RACING

13 MEETINGS AFFECTED ; So far 12 galloping meetings and one trotting fixture have been affected by the curtailment of racing. Past meet- , ings which have been abandoned include races at Manawatu on 26th, 27th and 29th December; at Waipukurau on 24th December; Westland, on 29th December; and Wairarapa, on Ist and 2nd January. Future fixtures which have been can. 1 celled include the trotting meeting to ; have been held at Thames on 10th aJnuary, and the following race meetings: —Vincent, 9t’i and 10th January; Thames, 24th January; Reefton, 10th and 12th January; Wairoa, sth and 7th February; and Opunake, on 14th February. The Wellington Racing Club’s Summer Meeting has been reduced from three days to two, the Waikato meeting in February from two days to one, and the Gore February fixture from two day’s to one. These changes are principally a result of the Government’s dictum that racing may not be held on week-days.
