INSTANCES OF GERMAN BRUTALITY MASSACRES IN GREEK VILLAGES (Rec 12.10 p.m. > Rugby, Oct. 21. Further instances of German treatment in occupied countries have been received in London, ranging from arrests in Paris of professors to wholesale commandeering of winter clothing in Norway for the use of German solA grim commentary on Hitler's true intentions is found in a message received by the Greek Government in London—it will be recalled that Hitler expressed admiration of the Greek spirit in the most flattering terms in the early days of aggression. The message states that five German regiments have been moved into north Greece to keep order because the Bulgarians have been unable to do so. It is difficult to foresee to what depths the Germans are likely to go as the message states that the Bulgarians, whose place they are taking, have already, under instructions from their German masters, been using most brutal repressive measures, including the execution of hostages, shooting of peaceful citizens, and wholesale carrying out of massacres in Greek villages. According to a conservative estimate the victims number 15.000. and at least one of the villages has been burnt and razed to the ground. —B.O. W.
