STORM DAMAGE EXPENDITURE
LOCAL BODIES MAY ADVANCE MONEY 'From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. Amendments introduced in the House of Representatives last night to the Statutes Amendment Bill extend the purposes for which moneys may be borrowed in exceptional circumstances by local bodies, to make provision for expenditure arising from storm damage. The Minister of Internal Affairs is given power to authorise borrowing by a local body to meet costs arising from expenditure from flood, storm, or land slips. Advances bv local authorities to property owners may also be made to enable them to remedy conditions
