OBITUARY
MR PAUL I). lIOSKINS Wellington, This Day. The sudden death last evening of Mr Paul Done! lan Hoskins, a very well known citizen and New Zealand president of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Mr Hoskins collapsed and died at 5.15 p.m. while presiding over a meeting of the superior council of the society. Mr Hoskins, who was born in Wellington 65 years ago last Wednesday, ! was a son of the late Mr Paul lies- j kins, also of Wellington. He was educated at the Marist Brothers’ school. I After leaving school he entered the*! service of the Post and Telegraph De- ! partment (in 1891), in which he re-[ mained till his retirement in 1926. His last office was that of assistant accountant in the General Post Office, and he had acted temporarily as assistant Controller of the Post Office Savings Bank. As a young man lie was a member of the Wellington Rowing Club, and he played Rugby football with the old Pirates club. Mr Hoskins leaves a widow, two sons and five daughters. MR DAVID JONES Wellington, This Day. The death occurred in a private hospital. Wellington, this morning, of Mr David Jones, aged 67. He was a M.P. at various times for Kaiapoi, Ellesmere and Mid-Canterbury, and in 1931 1932 Minister of Agriculture.—P.A. MR JAMES A. WAR NOCK Auckland, This Day. The death occurred to-day of Mr James Alexander Warnock, aged 68. lie gave 25 years of his life to the public service, serving on the City Council 12 years, two as Deputy-Mayor. He unsuccessfully contested the Mayoralty in 1927. In his youth he was a keen volunteer officer. He was % a director cf a number of Auckland companies, , and a past president of the Automobile Association.—P.A.
