COLLINGWOOD PETROL SUPPLIES
; ROAD AND SEA TRANSPORT “We note the report in the press to the effect that the board is approaching the Oil Fuel Controller with a view to. Collingwood petrol being sent by boat." stated Transport (Nelson) Ltd., m a letter to the monthly meeting of the Collingwood Harbour Board. "We have to advise that the total petrol carted to Collingwood as far as our company is concerned is 56 drums per month and this is carted over on our regular freight ! service. If back loading of this sort is to be sent over by boat, it will be necessary to increase stock cartage rates ; and the rates on general commodities, i We would also like to point, out that the main purpose of oil conservation is for i the saving on exchange and in this | connection the trucks and boats both use oil. There will be no saving in fuel, as in any event it is necessary to have a service run between Nelson and your district by road.” The letter was ’received." and it was decided to request the Oil Fuel Controller to reply to the board’s previous let- ; ter on the subject.
