GIRL GUIDES meeting of association At a general meeting of the Motueka branch of the Girl Guide Association those present were: The Divisional Commissioner, (Mrs L. Mackay), Mesdatnes Edwards, Lewis , C. Mackay, Thorp, Fawcett, Staples, Green, C. Thorp, and the Misses H. Thorp and J. Henderson. Apologies were received from Mesdames Boundy and Taylor. A short committee meeting was held with Mrs C. Mackay in the chair. Mr C. W. Thorp was thanked for his donation of the insurance premium on the Guide Hut and its contents. The report of the Acting Brown Owl, Miss Joy Henderson, was received and the president spoke with appreciation of Miss Henderson’s work with the Brownie pack during the past year. The Commissioner also stated that she had been present at a Brownie rally to enroll recruits and had been very pleased with the spirit and enthusiasm of the pack. Mrs Edwards, president of the association then took the chair. Tim balance sheet showing a satisfactory financial position was presented. The thanks of the association are due to Mrs L. McCallum for auditing. It was shown that the Motueka district old guides and friends of the association had responded widely to the Air Ambulance and Motor Lifeboat appeal and that there was every reason to be pleased with the amount contributed. The president welcomed Mrs L. Mackay as Divisional and Acting-District Commissioner and expressed regret at the resignation of Mrs C. Mackay as District Commissioner, adding that (he association was, however, glad to retain the active services of Mrs Mackay as president of the committee.
