U.S. CRUISERS AT BRISBANE
UNEXPECTED ARRIVAL Brisbane, Aug. 5 Two United States cruisers, each o: 9000 tons with a complement of 70( men. arrived here unexpectedly anc unheralded to-day. The visit is officially stated to be part of a training cruise.—U.P.A. The United States cruisers are Sa!' Lake City and Northampton. They art under the command of Rear-Admira Sherwood Taffindcr. “We have jusl dropped in for two or three days to ge! oil and provisions.” said Rear-Admira! Taffindcr in an explanation of the visit He added that far as he knew Brisbane would be the only port of call in Australia.—U.P.A.
