PRELIM IX AR Y EDUCATION A L COURSE NELSON PASSES IN RECENT EXAMINATION All men selected for the Air Crew are now required to satisfactorily complete , a preliminary educational course, owing i first to the fact that it brings them up to the necessary standard in mathei matics and elementary science if they were at the outset below this standard, and secondly, to the fact that the course includes many matters, such as elementary air navigation, theory of flight, map projections and meteorology, which are included in the course at the . Ground Training School and which aid i the work being done at. that Station. 1 Air Force preliminary tests are held J some six or seven times a year on the 1 completion of each course of this instruction. No h Air Force Preliminary Educational Course commenced on Monday, 21st July, and most of the men interviewed within the la>t few weeks have been posted to that course No. 9 course will commence on Monday 15th September. The following men who were on the No 5 Long or No. 6 Short Air Force Preliminary Course passed the exam- : ination held in Nelson on 14th and 15th July:— Classes: C. J. Bridger (Nelson). C. j St-ange (Nelson) Correspondence: F. M. Fitzharris (Nelson). W. H Gill «Nelson), C. D. j Parker (Wakatu), N. J. Trewava* (Motueka). All the m?n listed are men who have been selected provisionally for the air | crew, either as airmen pilots, air cbI servers or air gunners The fact that ! thev have now passed this preliminary educational est means that, if medi--1 rally fit. thev will be posted to the | Ground Training School at Levin withI m the next few weeks for training as j airmen pilots, air observers or air gun*
