HEAVY GERMAN LOSSES SHORT/.GE OF FUEL (Rec. It) 20 a m.) Rugbv, Aug. 4. In addition to details of the general position of the fighting with the Germans. the latest Russian communique states: "A k rge enemy tank formation attempted five times to attack our fortifications in the south-west sector. After the enemy had run short of fuel and several tanks had been destroyed, our forces went into counter-attacks A fierce battle ensued, in which 300 tankand armoured cars took part on both sides. After one of the tank units had Deen put out of action our tank formations penetrated into the enemy lines In all the enemy lost 100 tanks and armoured cars, 45 guns. 30 motorised vehicles and at least 1000 Fascist sol;ers and officer- were killed."—B.O.W.
