PRISONERS OF WAR
ADVICE OF WHEREABOUTS Wellington, This Day. in a cablegram to the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society Colonel F. Waite, acting Red Cross Commissioner in the Middle East, gives the following details of notifications received so far through the Red Cross organisation of the whereabouts of New Zealand prisoners of war: In hospital, Kokinia, 535; Ecole Polytechnique Hospital, Athens, 44; Corinthia, Greece, 980; Oflag VB, Germany, 77, a total of 1636. Colonel Waite adds that he believes a number are still in Crete. Foodstuffs sent via Canada and Geneva would serve German camps. Colonel Waite had at his disposal sufficient supplies for all requirements.— P.A.
