JAPANESE BOAT AT AUCKLAND INTERVIEW WITH CAPTAIN Auckland, Aug.. 2 “We are very happy to be here.” 1 said Captain Baba. master of the Japanese motor-vessel Yamagiku Maru. in an interview to-day. He said j the ship had been delayed for several , days by rough weather 600 miles from 1 Auckland. It had to heave-to for eight i hours, and after that made only slow | progress. 1 Replying to a suggestion that the , international situation might have [ had something to do with the delay, he displayed polite interest and smiled. “What do the people of New Zealand i think of Japan?” Captain Baba asked.! (The interviewer gave an amiable | reply. Hitler’s Russian campaign was discussed. but Captain Baba was not ! much interested. “Good luck,’ said he. 1 as the interviewer departed, and his: smile was very happy indeed. The vessel is expected to sail on 1 Monday for Wellington.—P A
