INTER HOUSE GAMES PIA Y AT V. M A . A The first round of the ladies handicap basketball tournament was play cil oir at the Y.M.C.A. last week. The standard of play was rather poor, coni pared with the championship round. Teams were anxious to make up their handicap and rough tactics followed overkeenness. Some of the men’s teams had difficulty in fielding players, four matches being won by default. In the men's section there arc still four weeks of play before the championship is concluded. The fastest match last week was played between Convent 0.(1. 'scr) and Y.M.C.A. A (10t. Although the latter had such a good handicap they were unable to maintain the lead. Convent having no difficulty in making up the handicap in the first half. In the second half Convent forged ahead and it was not until just before time that the Y.M.C.A. girls managed to score, making the final score Convent O.G. 2U. Y.M.C.A. A 14. Post Office ladies had a comparatively easy win over McKenzies, who were able to field only five players. The final score was Post Office 41. McKenzie's 20McKay's managed to maintain their handicap lead over Woolworths and won by 37 to 31. Post Office men and Air Force had a very close game. Air Force, fielding two new players, did not play up to their usual standard and were defeated In an even game Civil Service drew with Swimming Club 22 all.
