HITLER ASSEMBLING TROOPS (Rec. 1.40 p.m Moscow, Aug. 3. The Tass Agency’s Geneva corresdent suggests that Hitler is assembling troops on the Spanish border of occupied France for an attack against Pur tugal, and adds that several panzer divisions are stationed between Bordeaux and Bayonne and large unit: of Spanish troops are being despatched to the Portugucs frontier. —U.P.A. The diplomatic correspondent ot the London "Times” says the economic pressure by the democratic powers against Japan is increasing. President Roosevelt’s order regarding motor fueff and oils constitutes a heavy blow tc Japan. It believed that Britain and th* Netherland East Indies far from lagging behind the United States will follow parallel courses Japanese reinforcement of the garrisons in Manchukuo and Northern Korea if not absolutely confirmed is considered highly probable, but at the same time there is no reason to suppose that the Japanest Government wishes to do more than oblige her German partner by maintaining large enough forces in these regions to make the Russians think twice before weakening their powerful Far Eastern army. The diplomatic correspondent of the Japan "Times” says that all indication point to a continuance of Japanese activity in the South Sea.- find “Greater East Asia." Japan may not be ready to apply direct and official pressure against Thailand, but there are indications that if the militarists come to believe such pressure can be exercised without undue danger they will insist on the risks being taken and probably get their way.
