Buchanan, f Waitahora. who topped the poll in the county elections for the Dannevirke power and hospital boards, suffered a stroke at his home and died almost immediately. Mr Buchanan, who was about 72 ? years old, took a keen interest in the r work of the New Zealand Farmers’ e Union, the Young Farmers’ Club of J Southern Hawkes Bay, and in local ' body affairs. He was one of the earli- ' est settlers in the Waitahora district, where he was well-known and highly j? respected. 1
