BRIGHTWATER

STEPS TO FORM A PLATOON Last night at 7 o’clock Captain Eyre, of the Permanent Staff, Defence Department, addressed a meeting in the Public Hall of those interested in the forming of a platoon based on the Spring Grove Drill Hall. In spite of a deluge of rain quite a fair number attended and keenly followed Captain Eyre’s address. At the conclusion after sundry questions had been satisfactorily answered Mr L. G. Hyde thanked the speaker for a very interesting address on the aims and objects of the meeting. It was decided that Mr L. G. Hyde act as recruiting officer for this area and supply the necessary forms to those desirous of joining up with the local branch of the Territorials.
