Believed to be the first of the kind in New Zealand, an all-Maori platoon has been formed in Hastings in the territorial recruiting drive. Twenty Maoris of the district enlisted together and a platoon has been ,established j which it is hoped will be controlled by , native non-commissioned officers and officers. "This call of the nation has been nobly answered by these Maori people,” said the Hastings recruiting officer. Mr H. It is expected that this will be in about a month’s time.
