THREATENED BOYCOTT iFrom Our Own Parliamentary Reporter] WELLINGTON, 29th June. An appeal was made to the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M! J. Savage) in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon for some modification of the import restrictions to permit of the sale of New Zealand wool to France to continue. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe i National, Manawatu) asked the Prime Minister if he had considered the recent statement of the French Consul that France bought some £1,500,000 to £2,000,000 worth of New Zealand wool, and whether In view' of that statement, together with the threat of boycott by French wool buyers, w'as the Government prepared to modify the restrictions on the present small amount of French goods imported, in view' of the disastrous results a boycott would have on the export of New* Zealand wool? The acting leader of the House (the Hon. P. Fraser) said that the question involved policy and consequently he requested Mr Cobbe to place it on the order paper for future consideration. This course was agreed to.
