COLLEGE PLANTATION AGAIN ON FIRE

LARGE AREA OF SHRUBS AND NATIVE TREES DESTROYED Fanned by a south-westerly wind a small rubbish fire started in the plantation of shrubs and native trees on the College property, got out of control this afternoon and swept right up the spur on the Grampians behind the College, destroying all the trees except a few at the bottom.

The Nelson Fire Brigade was called to the scene but as the nearest water was in Allan street it was impossible to get a lead of hose out and all tlfat could be done was to stop the fire from getting into the neighbouring pine plantation.
