RIWAKA CROQUET CLUB
PRESENTATION TO MRS G. ATKINS A very pleasant function took place at the Riwaka Croquet Lawns on Saturday afternoon, when Mrs George Atkins was entertained by members of the club and presented with a handsome hand bag. Mrs Atkins was for a number of years president of the club, and has held office since its inception, always taking a very keen interest in its welfare. She has now resigned from office as she and her husband have planned a long holiday to England and the Continent.
A large number of members were present. and. after they had enjoyed the delicious afternoon provided. Mrs W A. Ryder (president of the club) made the presentation. In extending to Mrs Atkins the thanks and appreciation of members for the many services she had rendered to the club, Mrs Ryder said that she had imbued members with her enthusiasm and had been responsible for the continued success and progress of the club. The gift, she hoped, would help to remind the recipient of the happy days spent on the Riwaka croquet lawns; and in concluding she wished Mr and Mrs Atkins a very pleasant voyage and an enjoyable and beneficial holiday Mrs Atkins, in returning thanks for the gift, and the kind remarks, said she hoped to come back to the lawns at least one day each year for the sake of old times. Mesdames O. C. Wilkinson. F. Painter. and C Tutbery also joined with the president in extending good wishes to iMr and Mrs Atkins for their future I health and happiness. I Friendly games were played on the I law ns, which are looking exceptionally well and are a credit to the caretaker. Members were displaying renewed interest, and the club is looking forward to a successful season.
