COMPANY MANAGER SENT TO GAOL f United Preiut AMiiciltionl WELLINGTON, 20th January. “I do not think in a case like this, when such cases are being regarded seriously, and when a man is leaving n race meeting in heavy traffic, that in such conditions a lehient view should be taken," said the Magistrate, Mr Goulding, in the Upper Hutt Court, when Deryck Spiller, company manager, aged 28, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated while in charge of a motorcar at Heretaunga, yesterday. A constable said defendant came into collision with a stationary car. Accused was sentenced to fourteen days imprisonment with hard labour and Ms license was cancelled for 18 months.
