LETTERS TO WHITE RABBIT

Dear White Rabbit, I thought it would be fun to write a letter to you. Did you have a good Christmas? I did. Santa Claus brought me some nice things. If it is a nice day to-morrow, Mother is taking us down to the river for a swim. I am having a nice time in the holidays. Hoping you will get lots of letters. Love from, Joy Hollis (7 years), Foxhill, Deal White Rabbit, It was a pity you got buried beneath that pile of papers, wasn’t it? I am anxious to see what your surprise to stamp collectors is. I went picking in the raspberry gardens yesterday, but as it was wet, I only picked 251 b. I will be going again to-morrow. Yours sincerely, Elsie Arnold (11 years), R.M.D., Motupiko. Dear White Rabbit, I wish you a Happy New Year. I am pleased to see that there is going to be something about stamps in the paper. I have over 1000 stamps now. I have bought quite a few in town lately. I have learnt to milk and I can milk five cows now. On Sunday I went to Mapua and I caught one herring and got a feed of cockles, and I had a bathe. Yoursincerely, Peter Holmes (11 years), R.M.D., Upper Moutere. Dear White Rabbit, I have had a lovely time so far during the holidays. I mostly go for swims at the Baths or in the Maitai River. I don’t often go to the beach. I got quite a number of things at Christmas, including a bathing cap, a brooch, a box of handkerchiefs, and a cup and saucer. My Mother and Father gave me a lovely fountain pen. I haven’t had many stamps lately. I should very much like to see your collection if it could be arranged. I am longing to know what the surprise is going to be next Saturday. Yours sincerely, Eileen Dickinson (11 years), Natalie Street, Nelson.
