The Berlin correspondent of the “Daily Mail' says that on the day after the People's Court had sentenced four Communists for high treason. Dr. Parey and Dr. Giebel. the two prosecutprs, were killed in a motor crash on (he Berlin-Hanover road, while a woman driver in another car. also Dr. Parisius, who secured the death sentence on Van der Lubbe at the Reichstag fire trial, were injured. The cause of the accident apparently was a stationary lorry whose | driver failed to switch on the lights The trial resulted in Peter Kaspar being sentenced to decapitation. August j Hirsch to twelve years’ imprisonment. Johannes Schneider to five years’ im- | prisonment. and Otto Sauter to two! It was stated in evidence that the j ae-used sought to obtain military secrets from soldiers for the informs- j tion of the Soviet. They conspired ) to arrange for a mob to march on I Berlin on a fixed day, armed with ■ weapons stolen from a barracks, to j create -,nd facilitate a popular rising which was to be accompanied by fac-1 lory explosions, sabotage, and strikes.
