AMBULANCE WORK

NELSON DISTRICT COMPETITIONS EYLES MEDAL WON BY PRIVATE L. BOWDEN VISIT BY DISTRICT OFFICER The Nelson District competitions for St. John Ambulance work were held on Saturday afternoon when District Officer E. B. Gilberd. of Wellington was present and carried out an inspection of the Nelson Divisions. In the evening a social and dance was held and the trophies and certificates presented to the winners, also the certificates in connection with 'the trophies won by Nelson competitors at the recent Wellington competitions. The winners of the Sandham Cup at Wellington, Mrs Rodley, Miss Christain and Miss M. Crawley, and the winner of the Barltrop Rose Bowl, Miss M. Crawley, received certificates. Hygiene certificates were presented to Ambulance Officer A. E. Eyles, Sergeant E. Pearce, Lance Corporal A. S. G. Adam, Lance Corporal D. G. Win and Private L. Bowden. COMPETITION RESULTS The results were as follows: B.M.A. Shield for first aid and transport (Judge, Dr. W. D. S. Johnson): Nelson Ambulance Division No. 2 (Lance-Corporal D. Win, Privates McIver, J. Wearing and L. Bowden), 1: Nelson Cadet Ambulance Division, 2; Nelson Ambulance Division, No. 1, 3. Rotary Cup, practical first aid (judge, Dr. J. J. Crawshaw): Nelson Ambulance Division No. 2 (Lance-Corp. D. Win, Privates L. Bowden and Mclver), ]; Nelson Nursing Division No. 1. 2; Nelson Nursing Division No. 2, and Nelson Ambulance Division No. 1, 3 equal. R. W. Martin Cup, roller bandaging, open to members of Men’s Ambulance Division (Judge Mr U. West): Private J. W. Wearing 1; Corporal K. Gibbs and Private L. Bowden 2 equal. Harley Cup, oral work, first aid (judge, Dr. R. A. Lucas): Corporal L. W. Sherwood, 1; Lance-Corporal D. G. Win 2; Private L. Bow<> n 3. Barltrop Cup, open to members of the Nursing Division (judge, Dr. D. C. Low): Miss Christian 1; Miss Shanks 2; Mrs Willmot 3.
