UNIVERSITY SENATE
ANNUAL MEETING AT DUNEDIN ELECTION OF COMMITTEE [By Telegraph—Press Association] DUNEDIN, 13th January. At the annual meeting of the University Senate to-day it was decided that the financial committee should consist of the chancellor, pro-chancel-lor, vice-chancellor, Professor Von Zedlitz, Messrs P. Levi. L. D. Ritchie, H. D. Acland, H. D. Mahon and Colonel J. G. Smith.
The committee on the appointment of professors of the university was elected as follows: The chancellor, Messrs H. J. Morrell. H. D. Acland, P. Levi, H. D. Mahon and N. Francis.’
The vice-chancellor was appointed as an examiner for the Arnold Atkinsin prize in place of the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, who was unable to act, the other examiners being Professor Hight and Mr W. J. Morrell.
The senate passed a resolution paying a tribute to the great services "to science of Lord Rutherford.
The chancellor extended a special welcome to Dr. Sylvia Chapman Wellington, who has.the distinction of being the first woman to be appointed to a seat on the senate.
