CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES RESUMED l From ujijr Odd Correnponrtent) After the Christmas vacation, championship games were resumed on Sunday last, when Murchison played Gripps on the local ground. Gripps secured d win on the first innings, playing out time with two wickets to fall in the second innings. Scoring was low. the most successful batsman being Winfield, who scored 45 in Murchison's second innings. The most successful bowler was Wilson, who secured five Murchison wickets for 15 runs. Swainston, an employee of the 1 Mataki Junction Dredge, was severely | injured while working in the vicinity jof the Dredge on Tuesday afternoon. !Mr Swainston was working near the Dredge headline. when it suddenly 'swung towards him. striking him on the head, and inflicting serious injuries. Dr. F. Sligo, accompanied by Mrs Sligo, arrived in Murchison last week to take up a position as Medical'Officer to the Murchison district. Dr. Campbell-Smith. who has been acting as Medical Officer for the past three months, returned to Nelson on Thursday last. Mr fend Mrs N. B. Bachelor left Murchison last week to spend a holiday in Dunedin. During his absence Mr Bachelor js being relieved in his duties by Constable Rush, of Nelson. Mr T. Borkin returned to Murchison last week-end after spending a holiday in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs S. Peyton, and Mr anJ Mrs H. Rogers, are at present spending their holidays at the Portage. Mr and Mrs J. H. McAuliffe returned to Murchison during the week-end. after spending a holiday at Dunedin. Mr and Mrs A McDonald left Murchison on Saturday last for Wellington. where they will in future reside. Mrs J. Janies and Mrs J. Crabbe of j Nelson, are at present paying a visit to Murchison.
