VICTORY V. ATHLETIC DRAWN GAME Played at the Botanical Reserve on Saturday the game between Victory and Athletic resulted in a draw, rain stopping play when Victory were in a good position on an easy wet wicket. Athletic batted first, and the side totalled 174. Chief scorers were: Gibbs. 40. Bray 21, Burnett 43. Hill 14. Prince not out 17. When rain stopped play Victory had lost 4 wickets for 114 runs of which Hallond 21. Coxhill 25, Campbell 10. Garguillo 37 not out. and Reid 11 not out played good cricket. Bowling for Victory Garguillo took three for 47, Reid one for 16. and Mayers one for 12. Bowling for Athletic Bray took three for 48 and Burnett one for 19. A feature of Athletic’s innings was thal no fewer than four batsmen were run out.
