IN APPRECIATION

I'l.i llie Eilitorl Sir, —As a citizen of Nelson, I feel I must express my sentiments at the very fine spirit displayed on Sunday afternoon by the Citizens’ Silver Band, on their kindly and thoughtful visit to the Mental Institution at Stoke, when they played a very nice selection of music to the enjoyment of the patients and others. I am sure that every visitor on the afternoon appreciated the band’s visit to our unfortunate fellow-beings on this occasion, and business people and residents of our city must feel that the appeal that is being made for funds for this (our) band is deserving, of our support, and will be returned to them with efficient services in the future. —I am etc. ALSO AFTERNOON VISITOR. Nelson, 20th December.
