A NXI'AL CHRISTMAS PARTY SUCCF.SSFUL FUNCTION Tlip Nelson Townswomen s Guild concluded ;i very successful yciif with the annual (Tii-isiin.is party held recently in the Alarsden ( lunch Hull. Gaily decorated by members of the gardening circle the guild's colour, orange, as llie keynote, the hull presented a bright and festive appearance. The president, Airs Geo. Page, welcomed a very large gathering of members, the capacity of the hall being fully taxed. Proceedings opened with the singing of the guild .song, after which a varied and entertaining programme was presented. Members of the musical circle, very gay in Venetian costumes contributed a chorus and dance which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, the quartette of dancers being Mesdames West and Simpson, (ladies) and Alesdames Cotton and Wickens (gentlemen). Alesdames Claughton and West were joint producers.

•Madame Blanchards’ Wax Work Show, produced by .Mrs Blanch, provided much merriment, those taking part being NI osda mes Plumridge, Cotton, West, Lock, Murrell, Austin and Spence. Two songs, "The Lilac Tree’' and ‘'The Wild Rose’’ were charmingly rendered by Mrs A. Kid-

Muring the afternoon a delightful fra was served, the hostesses being the committee assisted by the following ladies: Mesdanies Fowler, Shand-Smith, Biddle, Holmes and Aliss Shand-Smith with Airs Wright supervising the arrangements. A very happy and successful party concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
