LINER STUART STAR

CARGO UNLIKELY TO 151: SALVAGED

(Received 21st December, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, 20th December. It is unlikely that any of the Stuart Star’s cargo will be salvaged. The passengers aboard for New Zealand were Mr A. G. Ridleys and two sons, and Misses J. and F. M. Atkinson.

The Blue Star liner Stuart Star (11,928 tons) went ashore broadside on the rocky coast at Hookpoint lighthouse and became a total wreck. The passengers, all of whom were bound for Australia, were rescued by a tug.
