WELLINGTON, This Day. “I do not know when the air service across die Tasman will do inaugurated, and I do not think anybody else knows at the present time,” said the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) when asked to comment on the recent statement by Sir Archdale Parkhill in Australia that there was not likely to be any service this year. “Nobody is in a position to make a statement at the moment.’ said Mr Sa '- age. "The sooner we come to a final decision the better it will be for all concerned, but there are many considerations. including that of the type ol machine to be used. In the meantime New Zealand has put up with the irregular arrival of the air mail from Australia despatch,ed by Imperial Airways The authorities in the Commonwealth send by the first boat, and if there is any delay, they are not responsible for it.
"We have our minds concentrated on the job of concluding arrangements which involve England. Australia and New Zealand at the earliest possible moment.”
