MAORI BOY’S COURAGE THREE CHILDREN SAVED FROM DROWNING IHy Telegraph Ptei's Association) ROIORUA, 9th September J hrec Maori children, Wi Hnnu, aged 6, -Maki Kingi, aged 6, and Tuku Humi. aged 6, were rescued from drowning this morning by an older companion, I’efi Htiijti, aged 13, when a small boat itt which they were crossing Lake Roloili on the way to school suddenly sank. Showing the greatest tenacity and resource. I’eti kept the three younger children, who were all unable to swim, alloat until two canoes were paddled to their assistance. 1 he boat was well out in the lake, and in very deep water, when the accident occurred. None of the four was much the worse for the experience, although all were suffering from shock.
