SPRINGBOK RUGBY TOURISTS PLAYERS FIT BUT TIRED TEAMS FOR TO-MORROW'S GAME [By Telegraph—Press Association! DUNEDIN, 9lh September. The Springboks arrived at Dunedin this evening to play the thirteenth match of the New Zealand tour against Otago on Saturday. They were received informally by the mayor and the president of the Otago Rugby Union, Dr. Arnold I’erry, who played for Otago in the match against the 1921 team. The manager, Mr P. W. Day, said that hi 3 team was thoroughly fit. There had been no further casualties and players injured early in the tour had made a good recovery. “Invercargill was the turning point of the tour,” ho said. “The players are very tired and they will not be sorry to be homeward bound.” There is every indication that conditions will be very much to the Springboks’ liking on Saturday. After a spell of diy weather Carisbrook is very fast and a fine day is all that is needed to make the tourists feel completely at home. Following are the teams: — Springboks: Brand; Turner, Williams, Hofmeyr, Babrow, Loclmer; Van der Vyver; Craven; Bergh; van Reenan, Bastard, du Toit, van den Berg; M. Louw, Lotz, Jennings. One tbree-quar-ter is be omitted. Otago.: J. M. Taylor; L. Werner, K. Park, R. Mahoney; D. Travathan, D. Murray; H. Simon; C. Quaid, W. Laney, C. McDonald, A. Parkhill, J. Mahony; R. Neiper, L. Niven; F. Green. SOUTH CANTERBURY BEATEN HASTINGS, 9th September. The South Canterbury Rugby representatives opene the tour of the lower portion of the North Island this afternoon against Hawkes Bay, and were beaten by 14 points to 4, after a ragged exhibition on both sides.
