RETAINED BY LABOUR I United Press Association-By Eleotrio Telegraph -Oopyrightl LONDON, Bth September. The Springburn (Glasgow) by-elec-tion caused by the death of Mr/ G. D. Hardie (Labour) was won b.v his widow, with 14,859 votes. Mr A. D. Maclnnes Shaw (Nationalist) polled 8881 votes.

The late Mr Hardie, who gained the seat at the hist General Election polled 20,286 voles, and his Conservative opponent, Mr J. McNicol, 11,859.
