THE HON. W. NASH
LONDON PROGRAMME INTERFERED WITH SEVERAL CONFERENCES HELD (By Telegraph—Presß Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. A cable message from London to the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, advises that the constitutional crisis in Britain necessarily interfered with the programme of the New Zealand Minister of Finance and Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash. In the forefront of the Minister’s activities were important conferences with British Cabinet Ministers regarding New Zealand’s reciprocal trade proposals. All the conferences had to be suspended for some days.
The Minister himself, with the High Commissioner, Mr W. J. Jordan, has had to be continually in readiness for summonses to Downing Street, continues the message, and Mr Nash has had several calls there in connection with the crisis. In other respects however, Mr Nash has been kept very busy. He has had several conferences with men of prominence in political, commercial ancl financial affairs, including Mr Montagu Norman, Governor of the Bank of England, trade banks, stock and station firms, and Imperial Chemical Industries.
