KARTIGI DELAYED
HELD UP BY SEAMEN AND FIREMEN (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, This Day. The departure of the Union Company’s Kartigi for Westport was delayed over the week-end owing to a dispute. The seamen and firemen refused to take the ship to sea until hinges were fitted to the messtable fiddles to prevent the plates sliding in rough weather. The .men were later asked to leave the ship as their services were no longer required. When the crew assembled at the shipping office- this morning, the discussion was re-opened between their representatives and those of the Union Company. It was hoped that a settlement would be reached this afternoon.
